Description

A great low maintenance perennial plant with vanilla perfumed flowers from late spring to summer. The blooms are nodding, and can be white, pale pink to pale blue. It is a grass-like plant, and can be grown and flowered in both sun and shade. It will become dormant in dry times, so should be marked with a label so that it doesn’t become a victim of weeding. Drought and frost tolerant, and can survive in heavy shade.
It grows from tuberous roots, which are edible. Indigenous people ate the tubers raw or after roasting them.
Propagate from seed or by division of the tubers.
